Susticacan

a beautiful small village in the sierra near Jerez, Zacatecas MX, Susticacan was never conquered by the Spanish during the conquest / that is, as explained here in the video, everytime the conquistadores arrived from the nearby mines of Zacatecas the Indian populace just took to the hills.
A clean, flower-filled friendly village, August is the fiesta for Susticacan, and descendents plus migrants return. Its worth it to rent a car from Zacatecas or Jerez and proceed even further into the sierra, it almost feels like stepping back in time.
Thanks to Jaime Cortez, photographer. This we shot a couple years ago, are now working on haciendas.
